Engrossed

So, over the Christmas and New Year holidays, I had a lot time off from work and since I didn’t have school I was able to indulge in a guilty pleasure that has been neglected over the past few months…READING FANFICTION.
Some of these are probably really OLD but like I said, I just got caught up. I thought I’d share in case you’ve been under a rock like me:
Dear Mr. Masen by jenndonna- Decent story length at 24 chapters, starts off as emails exchanged between Mr. Edward Masen, CFO at Cullen, Inc. and Isabella Swan, IT Specialist at Cullen, Inc. Their emails spawn a friendship and of course their friendship turns to LURVE. I really liked the story but I found it to be a bit predictable (but isn’t most fanfiction?) however I enjoyed the witty, sarcastic banter between Edward and Bella and Edward’s rambling was hilarious. It’s a quick read and definitely worth a look!
The Plan by QuantumFizzx- I’d seen references to this story all over the Internet but never really took the time to see what it was all about…shame on me!! I really enjoyed this story as well. Predictable story line (Edward high powered, wealthy exec/Bella lower level intellectual in school/new grad who makes Edward realize what’s important) but the writing was really different and the intro to the chapters was cute and unique. My fave part was when Bella told Edward that he didn’t really know her and he ran down the list of things he knew about her including how much she’d won betting against his assistants. This one is 76 chapters but they are super short and sweet and you could totally read this one in a day (or less)!
Winter Song by SydneyAlice- No one does tearjerkers like SydneyAlice and this one is no exception! Sweet, beautiful and a perfect tribute to the men and WOMEN in the armed services. I like the fact that Bella was the one who had been away serving her country. My insignificant words won’t do this ONE-SHOT justice, just go check it out!
There were also two stories that I was following before my vow to stop reading unfinished stories because the authors have a life obviously, which doesn’t revolve around my needy ass don’t update regularly. I will say this: I was thoroughly disappointed at the way they ended. I felt they were both rushed and toward the end it appeared they just wanted to get the stories over with…I’m not going to bother reviewing or recc’ing them here. But again that is the problem with some in-progress stories if they don’t get abandoned they sometimes fall off…waaay off!
Off the soapbox… my last fanfic commentary is on a story that was finally completed and I don’t even remember following it. Seriously. I think it may have been almost a year since the author updated…I can’t even remember what the story was about, so I’m going to re-read Resident Geek from the beginning. LOL.
Oh and the image above is from the movie, The Reader. It has nothing to do with this post except they are reading. In the tub. Naked.
